Towing superstructures

Sliding platforms with additional axle for optimising the useful load for Crafter 50 with single cabin or double cabin for the transport of vehicles and for accident recovery from German production in steel or aluminium structure.

A clearance certificate from Volkswagen AG exists for the towing superstructure on single Crafter cabins.

Transport of extremely heavy individual vehicles up to 3800 kg weight wit FRG driving licence category 3 (car-old) resp. new EU driving licence category C1E.

Perfect fit through the sliding platform on almost every trailer with cross-over device. Through the permissible total draw weight of 8000 kg this is almost 3900 kg useful load in a traction operation. Standard equipment in line with good practice with warning beams on high flyers, working lights, moveable hydraulic winch with control activation, tool box, etc.

In addition to the comprehensive standard equipment your vehicle will be “tailor-made” according to your specifications from practice through a wide number of options such as, e.g. Porsche rails, removable tarpaulin frames, etc.

We also offer fixed platform superstructures with loading ramps and electrical winches for price-conscious customers in place of hydraulic winches. Advantages are the lower purchase price and a higher useful load; disadvantages are a less favourable drive-up angle and far more difficult accident recovery.

Lifting cradle to transport a second vehicle. Up to 6 tool boxes in different sizes possible. Lighting for tool boxes. Canister boxes with 3 items plastic canisters. Powder fire extinguishers with holder in plastic box. In addition to the mentioned tool boxes two refuse containers with hinged supports can also be ordered. Strengthening of the platform to transport armoured vehicles. „Porsche rails“ for drive-on angle 4.5° (standard 8°). Multi-channel radio for all functions of the superstructure. Shovel and broom holder. Winch hydraulically moveable in place of series mechanically moveable. Motorbike holder. Reverse back up system, etc.

Upon request, equipment according to BGI 800 resp. specifications of VW and Audi-AG on recognised "Service mobile" to replace the existing Sharan, Passat or A2 also possible.

VW Crafter 50, long wheelbase 4325 mm

Description:
Crafter 50 with additional axle with sliding platform, useful load up to 3800 kg, loading length up to 5900 mm, permissible total draw weight up to 8 tonnes to transport 2 heavy vehicles.

The equipment of the basic vehicle should be discussed with the superstructure manufacturer in any case.

Basic vehicle, normal driver’s cab or double cabin with 120 KW engine, wheelbase 4325 mm, with
- short rear axle ratio = rear axle ratio 4,72:1
- strengthened trailer coupling = 3500 kg towing mass

Along with the mentioned high vehicle load capacity of approx. 3800 kg in solo operation, also resulting from this combination is the extremely important advantage that the total draw weight has been upgraded here to 8000 kg.
- In practice this means that this gives you the legal possibility to transport almost 3.9 tonnes total mass in the trailer.
- e.g. on the platform an Audi A8 (empty weight approx. 2000 kg), on the trailer an Audi A6 Avant (empty weight approx. 1800 kg)
